A surf documentary about the state of surfing today as told through the perspectives of two opposing Australian surf tribes in...The Gold Coast - Home to high rise hotels, the most worlds most talented pro surfers, and a man-made-ubber-pointbreak known as the Superbank.The N.S.W. Countryside - Land of lush rolling hills, moon-chanting hippies, and miles of virgin waves.
Over the years, surfing in these neighboring states has come to mean very different things to two very different groups of people. For Gold Coast surfers it is a business: contests, training camps, giant surf shops, and a commitment to surfing performance. For NSW country surfers it is a religion: daily liquid communions, pre-dawn rituals, hand-shaped surfboards and devotion to the trim line.Meandering through the dreams and routines of different wave riders, the stereotypes begin to peel away exposing the fruits of our commitment to fun, friends and good waves.... we're all the same Under the Sun

La Paloma Theater, Encinitas
Follow the lives of eight California surfers in the newly released film, “One California Day.” Co-directed by Mark Jeremias (maker of “Drive”) and Jason Baffa (maker of “Single-fin Yellow”) and narrated by Devon Howard, this Super 16mm film stars Joel Tudor, Chris Malloy, Alex Knost, Tyler Warren, Jimmy Gamboa, Joe Curren, Dane Perlee and Tyler Hatzikian, with special appearances by Skip Frye, Dan and Keith Malloy, Greg Noll and Lance Carson.
We will have drawings for two Patagonia surfboards at the Friday night premiere - one at the 7:00 pm show, the other at 9:15. “One California Day” will continue to screen every evening at the La Paloma through Thursday, August 16.
THREAD PREMIER
We actually missed the opportunity to get to this event but we wanted to get info. on this film out there.
Patrick Trefz and Mollusk Surf Shop celebrate the release of “Thread.” Filmed around the globe, “Thread” weaves a mesmerizing visual story of surfers and esoteric ocean landscapes. In addition to the film, the benefit party will feature music by Mattson 2 and Ramblin Worker and artwork by famed artists Thomas Campbell, Joe Curren, Art Brewer, Campbell Brothers, Craig Fineman, Michael Halsband, and Rob Larson.
